Over 600 traders in Ikorodu Federal Constituency will between Tuesday, 25th and Wednesday, 26th , May 2026, receive financial support of N50, 000 each for their businesses.
The grant was facilitated by Rep. Babajimi Benson, the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
The grant is aimed at promoting and developing small businesses in Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The grant was presented to beneficiaries with a dummy cheque at Rep. Babajimi Benson’s constituency office, while beneficiaries will receive alerts of their funds between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoolu, the Director – General, iCare Foundation, the operational arm of Rep. Benson, addressing some of the beneficiaries, stated that the grants cut across the Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the six council areas.
”This money being given to you is a grant facilitated by Hon. Babajimi Benson from SMEDAN.

”Over 600 people across the six council areas – Ikorodu West LCDA, Ikorodu Central LG, Ikorodu North LCDA, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Ijede LCDA and Imota LCDA, will get N50, 000 each,” Mayor Sanwoola stated.
He further stated:
”The presentation will be done with a dummy cheque and you will be receiving the alerts as soon as that is done.
”The network may delay the receipt but by Wednesday’s night, you all must receive the alerts no matter what.”

While also saying that anyone that does not receive his/her alerts must have sent in wrong details especially wrong NIN, Mayor Sanwoola warned that the grant is not meant to celebrate the Ileya festivities.
”This money is not meant for Ileya celebration because it’s coming a few days to the annual event, rather, it’s meant to support small scale businesses.”
Mr Vincent Okafor, representative of SMEDAN, also speaking thanked Rep. Benson for facilitating the financial support through SMEDAN.

He assured residents listed to benefit that they would receive their funds in good time and also that anyone who has any issue should report to SMEDAN.
Some of the beneficiaries that spoke with THE IMPACT, thanked the representative for the gesture.
Iyaloja Modinat Ajoke, the Iyaloja of Orisun Market at Ojubode and Ladega Area of Ikorodu, appreciating the gesture said:
”We thank him and everyone is grateful and Ikorodu is grateful. We are all giving thanks. We appreciate everything in the market and everything Jimi Benson has done. He is the Julius Berger of Ikorodu. He has been taking care of us.

”He has given us 50,000 grant the other time and this is another one. There is also Apo Anu (food bank). He is impressive and sincere.”
She said that the grant money can be used to buy your bundles of clothes with a lot l of gain on it.
Mrs Fehintola Ojoge, the market women leader general, Ikorodu Division, also expressed her appreciation to the lawmaker that facilitated the grants.
”We are very grateful. Jimi, has done it again in Ikorodu. God has used him to bless us. May God make Ikorodu prosper.
“We are happy because he didn’t disappoint us.

”We still have faith in him; he is our leader, and he will always support the market, and that’s why we will always supporting him. All the struggles we are facing, it is not easy at all, but he is there for us.”
